We invite you to join us in our first season with a short trial period that will end December 15, 2025. As of Nov 17 there are 4 weeks remaining in the trial with deliveries to your front door every Monday.

How It Works

Step 1: Start Simple

Pay your $800 Membership Service Fee, which covers the trial period, and choose your initial starting box type. If you sign-up before midnight on Thursday 11/20, your first delivery will be Monday, 11/24.

Box Option Details:

All produce is sourced from small, organic California farmers.

Step 2: Stay Flexible

Once subscribed, manage your weekly box selections from your account:

  • One box not enough? Add multiple boxes and/or box types for any weekly delivery
  • Change quantities and types each week as your preferences evolve
  • Pause deliveries when traveling or well-stocked

Boxes are billed weekly based on your selections. This is in addition to your Membership Service Fee for the short trial season.

Step 3: No Long-Term Commitment

Try our service for 4 weeks to decide if this is right for you. The trial season ends December 15. We will communicate subscription details for the remainder of the 2025-2026 season (Jan 5th - May 25th, 2026) in late November.

Why is there a one time Membership Service Fee?

As a new business in our first season, we're taking a thoughtful approach to ensure we deliver high-quality, personalized service.

Your Membership Service Fee covers our fixed seasonal costs (facility lease, transportation from CA to CO, sorting, packing, technical operations, bookkeeping etc). Weekly box prices and Beyond the Box Personal Shopping items reflect only produce costs plus a small margin. This setup lets us maintain consistent quality for all our members no matter how much you order each week.

We're thrilled to have you in our founding community! Your feedback this season will help shape our future. Look for surveys throughout the trial period to give us insight into what we are doing well and could do better.

What is the cut-off day for making changes or pausing my weekly shipment?

The cutoff is Thursday at 11:59 pm for edits to your next Monday delivery.

If you miss the weekly cancellation deadline, and cannot accept your Smuggler Box, we will donate those perishables to Harvest for Hunger, a 501(c)(3) charitable organization.

Can I add more than one box or box type to my weekly delivery?

Absolutely! Simply log into your account, select the delivery week you'd like to modify, and adjust your box quantity or type as needed.

Important note: When you make changes to a specific week, our system automatically applies those same changes to all subsequent weeks. If you only want to modify one particular week, you'll need to go back and adjust the following weeks individually to your preferred selections.

Beyond this initial trial period, how do I renew my subscription for the remainder of the full 2025-2026 season (January 5th - May 25th, 2026)?

We'll send resubscription invitations via email and text in late November/early December, so please keep an eye out for those communications.

Due to security protocols, our system doesn't store payment information between seasons, so continuing members will need to complete a new subscription process with fresh payment details. This ensures your financial information remains secure and gives you the opportunity to update any account preferences for the new season.

What is the personal shopping service included with my subscription?

This service complements your weekly produce box or boxes. Here's how it works:

  • Every Wednesday afternoon, we will email/text you what's in the next weeks delivery.
  • If you need additional items, browse our Personal Shopping catalog on our website. The deadline to place all orders is Thursday at midnight.
  • Each week, order any missing produce à la carte as you would any e-commerce shopping experience. We source primarily from local California farmers markets, though some items may come from our partner Monterey Market in Berkeley when local produce is out of season. Monterey Market also works with trusted organic farmers in Mexico and Canada to ensure year-round availability of quality organic produce.
  • We'll deliver everything together to your door

Example: Your box includes artichokes, corn, tomatoes, peppers, and beans, but you need eggplant, cauliflower, Brussels sprouts, and herbs. Simply order those extras from our catalog.

Can I order from the personal shopping catalog in advance for future weeks?

No, personal shopping orders can only be placed for the next available delivery. Here's how it works:

  • Order by Thursday at 11:59 pm → Delivery the immediate, upcoming Monday
  • Order after 11:59 pm on Thursday → Delivery the Monday after next.
