Sharlyn is an heirloom muskmelon with a golden, netted rind and pale ivory-to-orange flesh that's exceptionally juicy and aromatic — the flavor sits somewhere between cantaloupe and honeydew but with tropical notes of pineapple and coconut that make it distinctly its own. The sweetness is more restrained and complex than a standard cantaloupe, with a floral fragrance that fills the room when fully ripe. Best eaten cold and simply, though it also pairs well with prosciutto, fresh mint, or a squeeze of lime.
