Approximately 2–3 pears per pound
Warren pears are a rare American heirloom discovered in Mississippi in 1976, prized among serious fruit growers for one defining quality: the complete absence of grit. Where most pears have that slightly grainy, stony texture in the flesh, Warren has none — just ivory, buttery, melting flesh that's extraordinarily sweet and juicy with honeyed notes of vanilla and spice. At peak ripeness they're best eaten simply, cold and unadorned. They also poach beautifully and cook down into preserves with real complexity. Pick them up firm and let them ripen on the counter for a few days.
