Fuyus bear a striking resemblance to tomatoes in appearance—sporting a rounded shape with a flattened base, a lighter red-orange hue, and a size comfortable to hold in one hand. However, their texture is more reminiscent of an apple, offering a crisp bite with a sweet flavor touched by subtle cinnamon notes. A leafy crown typically sits atop each fruit.

Unlike Hachiya persimmons, which become soft and custard-like, Fuyus maintain a firmer consistency, though they do gradually soften as they ripen. They're characterized by their solid, compact flesh with no pit or core, and most are completely seedless. Because they contain no tannins, eating one won't leave your mouth feeling parched, regardless of whether the fruit has reached peak ripeness.
