Approximately .75–1 pound per avocado
Reed avocados are a California variety developed in Carlsbad in 1948 — round, softball-sized, and significantly larger than a Hass, with thick, easy-peel skin that stays green even at full ripeness. The flesh is pale green, exceptionally creamy, and rich with a buttery, nutty depth that's more pronounced than most avocados. The pit is proportionally small for the fruit's size, which means more flesh per avocado. Use it anywhere you'd use a Hass — toast, guacamole, salads, sliced with flaky salt — or halve it and eat straight from the skin. Ripe when it yields to gentle pressure; the skin color won't tell you much.

Four generations of avocado expertise guide every harvest decision. As descendants of Harold Brokaw – who was Rudolph Hass's exclusive business partner in propagating the original patented Hass variety in 1935 – they understand what makes exceptional avocados at the genetic level.
To ensure optimal quality upon arrival, we typically select avocados that need a few more days to reach perfect ripeness. To keep from ripening too fast? Store in the refrigerator. Want to speed things up? Simply place your avocado in a paper bag and keep it at room temperature.
Experience the difference that patience and four generations of expertise make – these aren't just avocados, they're Brokaw avocados.
